About

Who are we?
Welcome to Christ Church Glasgow. We’re glad you’re here. As a church, we live out our vision by loving God, loving each other and loving Glasgow. Whether you are a committed believer or curious about the Christian faith, or simply looking for a community to belong to, we’d love to get to know you.
Sundays
Whether you have been to church before or not, you are welcome to join us at one of our worship services. They are relaxed and informal.
Our story
Christ Church Glasgow was planted in 2019 to be a church that’s not for ourselves, but for people who wouldn’t normally go to church. Sunday worship began in a home, moved to a school, before moving into our current building in Anniesland. In seeking to be a church that plants churches, we thank God for the beginning of Merchant City Church in 2025.

Got questions about faith?
We value questions and the people who ask them. We frequently have a time of Question and Response after our Sunday services for people to ask any questions about faith. In the meantime, if you’ve got any questions you’d like to process, feel free to get in touch.

Meet the Team

Jonathan de Groot
Minister
Jonathan is from Aberdeen, where he trained to become a minister. He was a minister in the Church of Scotland for 10 years before planting Christ Church Glasgow. Jonathan is the chaplain to Partick Thistle Football Club. He is married to Sheona and they have three grown up children: Joshua, Matthew and Rebekah.

Ash Cunningham
Minister in Training
Ash is originally from Oxfordshire, but joined the Free Church of Scotland whilst studying at St Andrews. He recently served as a pastor in England before returning North to his adoptive homeland, where he is studying at Edinburgh Theological Seminary. Ash's love of rugby is now entirely in watching rather than playing, and when relaxing he can be found either watching films or with his nose in a poetry book, depending on the time of day. He and his wife Suzy have three children, Shasta, Istra and Crispin.

Our Mission & Values
Glasgow is a beautiful but broken city. As the biggest city in Scotland and the fourth largest in the UK, it has a significant influence with a growing and diverse population. While it has many social problems, Glasgow’s greatest problem is spiritual because of the many people who know little or nothing about Jesus Christ.
Our Beliefs
We believe the traditional teaching of Christianity, as revealed in the Bible.
As a church and denomination, we hold to the Westminster Confession of Faith.
Our Vision
Our vision is to be a Christ-centred Church to make disciples of all nations and impact Glasgow for the glory of God.
Our Values
Loving God. Loving Each Other. Loving Glasgow
